BUS SCUM - directed by Luigi Scaglione - TRAILER HD - [ITA]
"Bus scum" is a Polish-Italian project for a short film set in Wrocław. This cooperation starts from an initiative of Teatr ARKA, Luigi Scaglione, as a representative of OLTRECIELO, and FOSA Akademicki Klub Realizatorów Filmowych. The script by Mario Cipollone and Luigi Scaglione is based on “Monsters”, a story by Mario Cipollone.
A view of the current society wherein differences among human beings are more stressed when the people are forced to be close to one another in public places such as a bus. The fears and limits of the main character are emphasized by him in the other passengers. In every single one there is something repugnant to him. A parable of life about the human inclination to judge and, more often, to misjudge.
Bus Scum tells the discomfort of modern Western civilization by a claustrophobic bus ride across an indefinite, alienating city. Tadeusz, a youth of great potential and limited means, is a portrait of modern man, of the clash between his narcissistic individualism and the need for a society of reference in which he recognizes himself less and less. Human beings, as separate units each encapsulated in one’s own car, projected into a virtual world through the screen of a television, a computer monitor or even a bus window, stubbornly escape a reality of coexistence with the “other”, but it is only through comparison with others that modern man can acquire self-consciousness.
